Also, updates can be executed without a ton of work involved and many times it’s all about the accessories. See how we updated this traditional living room with a younger, modern-bohemian vibe that doesn’t have to cost the earth if you shop at an affordable retailer such as Amazon. Before/After: From Traditional Living Room To Fresh Boho Modern (And It’s Very Affordable)

Before, the room was quite traditional and floor space was limited. The fireplace was made from a decal. It felt like a cottage in the middle of the city, which is fine-if you’re into cottages in the city.

After: We wanted to make the room younger and fresher, a kind of modern boho blend. The jump-off point was the rug, and we drew all color inspiration from that. Sedona Blanco Rug, $156.99. We also gave the room a coat of Valspar Ultra White which is so insanely bright you practically need sunglasses indoors.

Instead of a side table, we used a basket so we have additional storage. The natural weave element contrasts well with modern industrial pieces like the magazine wall rack. Also, a Buddha brings a certain peace to space and this guy looks way more expensive than its $25 price tag. Deco 79 Poly-Stone Buddha, $25.20

Avoid cluttering limited floor space with magazine racks. Instead hang them on the wall. This Deco 79 Metal 3 Tier Wall Pocket, $37.80, is pretty sick.

Most of the acessories veered towards the bohemian, but don’t be afraid to mix in some modern pieces too. It keeps it interesting. Bentin Doxie Silhouette Pillow, $49.99

Poufs can serve as footstools, extra seating and even side tables if you place a tray on top. The crocheted vibe of this one juxtaposes really well with the clean lines of the sofa. Rizzy Gome roped cotton pouf, $217.50

These Fleur mirrors, $199 may be metal, but the leaf shape works well with the boho vibe.
